Introductory Spanish

Introductory Spanish meets the needs of high school students beginning the study of Spanish. Emphasis is on developing basal oral proficiency and listening skills. Grammar is stressed, along with reading comprehension and writing skills. Included in the curriculum is an exploration of Hispanic cultural influences throughout the U.S.

Objectives

 

Novice Spanish

Novice Spanish meets the needs of students wishing to complete the graduation requirement of 2 semesters of a foreign language. The prerequisite for Novice Spanish is a passing grade in Introductory Spanish. Emphasis is on continued development of oral proficiency and listening skills. The grammar studied at this level expands the foundation laid in Introductory Spanish into more advanced areas.

After successfully completing Novice Spanish, students may choose to continue studying more advanced levels of Spanish. The next course in the Spanish sequence is Intermediate Spanish.
